The role of agile coach has come on the scene in the last 10 years. Like other niches or branding, it attracts the clients that are looking for this type of support, but… what is it?

Agile coaches help train corporate teams on the agile methodology and oversee the development of agile teams to ensure effective outcomes for the organization. They are responsible for guiding teams through the implementation process, and they are tasked with encouraging workers and leadership to embrace the agile method. The agile coach’s ultimate goal is to arm agile teams with the right knowledge, tools, and training... so that they’ll be able to use agile to its full potential.

Our work as coaches is to understand where the teams are in their journeys and to offer the right approach to support their growth. Our agenda is improvement. We do that by bringing the right questions, providing good mental models, challenging people in their thinking, and guiding them toward building great products for our customers.

In this session, we'll explain the niche "agile coach" and how the work done by the coach aligns with ICF competencies and the PCC markers. We'll walk through each of the markers and explore the steps, the work, the practices, and the competencies of the agile coach that support each marker.

Workshops attendees will...

  • review a case study on agility;
  • understand the niche of an agile coach; and
  • examine how the work of the agile coach aligns with the PCC markers.
All participants will receive 1.5 ICF CCEUs (1.0 core competency and 0.5 resource development)!
