This course explores the coach/client relationship through the lens of ethical practice. Using a case study approach, you will discuss how to remain alert for a shift in client value by referencing the ICF Code of Ethics and the guiding principles of ICF Competency 1 Demonstrates Ethical Practice. Through this approach, you will identify power/boundary issues in practice and deepen your understanding of how to demonstrate ethical practice in your coach/client relationships.

After completing this course, you should be able to:​

1) Describe the scenario’s implications for coaching using the ICF Code of Ethics​.

2) Identify possible outcomes or next steps aligned with demonstrating ethical practice.

3) Explain power/boundary issues that could impact the coaching relationship.


Each participant will receive  1.0 Core Competency Education units and  0.5 Resource Development units.

Dr. Leena Guptha, DO, MS, MBA, PhD, PCC

Dr. Leena, the Chief Learning Officer at Trio Coaching Academy, is an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) who has taught in various professions from osteopathic medicine to nursing and coaching programs. She is alumnus of Duke University and holds 6 degrees including a Ph.D. in Health Sciences and Global Health Education. Inspired to pursue a career in health after (as a child) “coaching” her mother (who lived 30 years beyond her medical auto-immune prognosis) - she spent 6 years in primary care and thereafter integrative medicine choosing a life path that honors her mother's sprit. 

As an ambassador, Dr. Leena volunteers to advance the field of integrative health, has managed for-profit and nonprofit organizations of 15-25M and held various academic roles from academic dean to campus director. She enjoys health and human performance coaching, developing certifications, degree programs and presenting at conferences. Her practice supports individuals and groups to manifest their highest human potential and she also enjoys time with grandkids, international travel, and several artistic hobbies.
