Do You Own a Business or a Job?

Moving From Self-Employment to Enterprise Ownership

Many coaches start businesses in search of greater impact, freedom, financial opportunity, and control over their futures, only to discover that they have created a job they can never leave. If the business cannot operate, generate revenue, serve customers, or make decisions without you: You don’t own a business, you own a job.

In this engaging 60-minute workshop, Dr. Cornelia Shipley Bearyman challenges coaches to examine the degree to which their businesses are dependent on their personal time, expertise, relationships, and decision-making.

Participants will explore the mindset and practices required to move from working in your business to intentionally building your business. Together you will determine where owner dependency may be limiting growth, profitability, freedom, and long-term enterprise value and learn how greater leverage can be created through people, processes, technology, intellectual property, and strategic partnerships.

Participants will:

  • Examine where their business is unnecessarily dependent on them.
  • Determine what you should continue doing, and what you need to delegate, automate, systematize, or eliminate.
  • Explore how people, processes, technology, and intellectual property can create greater leverage.
  • What systems, boundaries, and accountability are needed to create sustainable growth
  • Identify one or two strategic shifts that can begin moving the business from owner-dependent to owner-led.

The goal isn't simply to work for yourself. The goal is to build something that works even when you are not.
