EY’s Approach to Transition Coaching: Supporting Clients
Presented by Leslie Goldenberg
In a world where constant change and disruption are the norm, organizations must evolve the way they support their leaders. EY, a leading global professional services organization, believes providing leaders the clarity they need, when they need it most through coaching unlocks a leader’s fullest potential and provides an exponential return on investment for the organization. Based on our experience of coaching thousands of executives, they discovered what differentiates leaders who thrive versus those who get stuck during defining moments in their professional and personal lives. The secret ingredient is an intentional focus on relationships first, results second.
This session describes the four kinds of relationships leaders must pay attention to during times of change and transition to have the highest level of long-term success and impact. As a participant in this session, you will have the opportunity to experience the transition framework EY developed, first-hand, which builds better leaders – faster.
You will gain insights into how transition coaching can support an individual in discovering a path and facilitating their learning to overcome obstacles. Come to the session prepared to process a change you are currently going through to gain a greater sense of clarity and walk away with the confidence to apply the concepts you learn with others.
Specifically, this session will:
- Describe why coaching leaders during defining moments matters
- Provide an overview of EY’s Transition Framework
- Give participants an opportunity to practice using the framework real-time
- Provide best practices for applying the concepts with leaders in your organization
Leslie is an executive coach at EY specializing in leadership transitions. Her typical client is an executive with a track record of success who wants to “up their game” as a result of a change in role, organization or business strategy, or the wish to find new sources of meaning in work and life. Her purpose as a coach is to provide a developmental relationship that generates clear benefits for leaders and the systems they belong to.
Leslie’s style blends a backbone of business acumen honed in her years as a strategy consultant, together with empathy and intuition developed over 20 years of coaching practice. She joins with her clients to think through their responses to the permanent state of change in today’s organizations. She strives to help leaders name what is sensed, search for the meaning in patterns, and move from intention to action. Leslie invites exploration of the often unspoken questions about life and leadership. She believes that for both coaches and leaders, courageous self-examination and a quest for self-knowledge are necessary for success. A customized 360 stakeholder feedback process tailored to the client’s learning agenda is often a key feature of her coaching engagements.
Leslie’s fascination with the challenges facing leaders in complex enterprises began with her own experiences. She was a partner in a boutique consultancy, a senior manager in a Big Four firm, and a global leader in the executive development function at IBM. She earned her M.A. from UCLA and B.A. from UC Berkeley. She holds coaching certifications from the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the Hudson Institute of Coaching. She is also an award-winning ceramic artist. Leslie lives in Los Angeles with her husband of 28 years and three teenagers.ICF Members $49 Non-Members $69
